5 Things I ♥ Right Now - Natural Skincare
1. I'm a big fan of the Korres Lip Butters. They are great when you want some pigment without all the fuss. They are very moisturizing and great on the go. I've used a few products from the Greek skin care line and have had great luck. Contains no parabens, sulfates or petro products.
2. OK, I know... you've heard enough about this peel but it's always a favorite and especially during this time of year, yum. A light enzyme peel (5%) that's organic and especially great for pigmentation and fine lines while keeping the skin looking plump during the dry months. I've had the 20% peel done at my dermatologist's office and it's amazing! I love the Eminence line, such great organic products without all the harsh chemicals. Certified Organic and Paraben free.
3. As it starts to get colder, my skin gets drier and needs more hydration. I'm a big fan of facial mist sprays (I don't travel without them). I'm a fan of Evian and La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water but especially LOVE using the Thayers Witch Hazel in a spray bottle for that refreshing boost in the summer. Not only are they refreshing, they have a built-in astringent to keep skin clear. I love them all - the rose, aloe, cucumber, lemon, peach and lavender. For the drier months, extra hydration is great and that's why John Master's Organics Rose & Aloe Hydrating Toning Mist is super at keeping the skin nice a plump. As you can tell, I'm all about the plumpness! Certified Organic.
4. Dry skin meet your match. I'm a fan of Argan Oil and love, love, love the Josie Maran stick form. Great for lips, cuticles, fine lines, dry patches, flyaways, burns, scars... you name it, Argan Oil is a fantastic remedy. I just love how portable this stick is, you get all the benefits of the oil but without the mess. 100% organic with no parabens, sulfates, petro or phthalates. Argan Oil is produced from female co-ops in Morocco and help support local Moroccan women with education, heath care as well as other needs. Josie Maran has a video of how to make your own Organic Lavender Mist with 100% Organic Argan Oil.
5. I'm a big fan of body butters. My favorite scented ones are from Pacifica (paraben, sulfate and phthalate free ) and I tend to rotate the scents around the seasons. I do like Yes To Carrots because it's a lighter (everyday use) body butter with a light scent that you can definitely layer with your own fragrance, unlike some others. This is great because it's easy to find at your local drug store and the price is right! Paraben free.
I have to give a special THANKS to St. Ives. They have recently reformulated their products and are now paraben and phthalate free. In my book, that is great news and I can only hope that other drug store brands follow suit. It's nice that you don't have to spend a lot of money or seek out products to keep your body healthy. I'm personally a huge fan of their Invigorating Apricot Scrub for body exfoliation. I LOVE the smell and buy it in the huge tub as it's great for sunless tanning as well as a great foot scrub in between pedicures.*NOTE-I'm no expert and by no means use all natural/organic skincare products. I try to use as many as I can but I do have many HG products that I can't part with and I'm just hoping they will someday take out all the harmful chemicals. I do what I can...
What are some of your favorite natural/organic skincare products? I do WANT to know, the skin care junkie in me NEEDS to know! ;-)

Nothing Says Fall Like Caramel & Candy Apples!
I love caramel and candy apples! Mrs. Prindable's has been a favorite of mine for many years, I fell in love with them while working at Neiman Marcus in college. This weekend, I'm going to one of my favorite Chicagoland fall festivities, the Long Grove Apple Festival and I always come back with such delicious apples. I'm planning on making my own creations. Any favorite combinations you recommend or have had luck with?Have a great weekend!

Bobbi Brown: Ivy League Collection
Yes, fall has arrived. YAY! This weekend I will be doing a little fall makeup shopping and like always, Bobbi Brown will be one of my stops. The Ivy League Collection looks lovely- see video. I wear neutrals all year round but I like to update my lip and blush color to a slightly richer tone for fall/winter. I love the lip crayons with a balm or gloss on top-great for girls on the go! Do you update your makeup colors for the seasons?ECM

Preppy Destination: Sandy Lane Country Club
Sandy Lane in Barbados is simply divine, there is no other way to put it. I thought I would share some photos of the very preppy Club House. It has many feminine touches which aren't often visible in the typical masculine club house (which I also happen to love). Make yourself a Dark 'n' Stormy (or other tropical cocktail) and enjoy the tour.Monday, September 21, 2009
eos Lip Balm Sphere

Have you tried these lip balms? Of course, I had to purchase since they come in pink and green. They are so fun! Pink, green, mostly organic and natural... what's not to like. I got mine at Walgreen's for 2/$6.00. As previously stated, I have an addiction to lip balm so there was no way I was passing on these cuties!

Bueller? Bueller?
One of the homes (Cameron's) in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is for sale. Anyone? Anyone? I live quite close to it as I once showed you in a tour of my hood. Not really my style (or my budget) but it would be fun to say you lived in that home. It's on one of my walking routes so it will be interesting to see what the new owners do with it. Since it's getting so beautiful here now, I might do another tour of my area. Perhaps my walking route/bike path... so many gorgeous homes and areas to see.

In Memoriam

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of taps one night,
When everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

Kentucky Derby Dreaming
Anyone going to the Kentucky Derby? If so, please have a mint julep or two for me! There are lots of fun party ideas on Kentucky Derby Party for all of you hosting. As far as the race, I'm thinking West Side Bernie looks good, for obvious reasons... the pink and orange silks, duh!?! ;-)

Spring in Chicago

Pink Nail Polish: $8
J. Crew Grosgrain Flip-Flops: $24.50
Spa Pedicure: $40
Being able to walk out of the spa in flip-flops and not having to worry about slipping on ice. Priceless.
Welcome SPRING, welcome to Chicago! :-) It was sunny and in the mid 70's on Friday, raining and in the 50's today and will be in the 40's mid week and then up in the 80's for the weekend. Indeed, spring in Chicago.
